Malaysia Freediving Pool Games 2026 - KL
3 Jan 2026
This competition came at a challenging point in my season. Just two weeks earlier, I had achieved a competition PB in Penang, and coming into this event I was already feeling physically and mentally tired, with no proper training in between. It was also my first time diving in a 50 m pool since the Bayan competition back in July. Simply deciding to show up felt difficult. To manage expectations, I treated the dives as sub-max training — focusing only on reaching the feeling of heavy contractions rather than chasing distance. In that context, the 116 m DNF came as a genuine surprise, followed by 112 m in DYNB on the second day. What I appreciated most about these dives was how calm and honest they felt. By letting go of outcome and staying with the discomfort, I learned that composure doesn’t depend on perfect preparation or peak freshness. This competition reminded me that progress can still happen when I prioritise calm execution in the hard phase — and that’s a big part of why I enjoy freediving.

116 m DNF. Thankful for guidance that reminded me to treat it as sub-max training and focus on the feeling, not the distance.
